Alongside his technical engineering capabilities, Meridian Scarz brings knowledge of music theory and an understanding of instruments, such as the piano, keyboard, guitar and bass guitar. He uses this musical knowledge to add value and depth to the theatrical compositions he creates.
The Story Behind the Musical Visionary
I began as a dedicated amateur, first working in engineering before going on to play my first instrument, the bass guitar for a reggae band, developing a deep love for live instrumentation. Over years this passion evolved into a unique studio production style combining orchestral layers, jazzy drum patterns, soulful movements and deep hip-hop influences. My heart had a mission that was unknown to me back then; however, it has always been to create compelling, textured soundscapes that inspire emotion. Now that this purpose is known, I intend to capture the listener's ear through epic and theatrical compositions developed within my musical productions made.

What Is Meridian Scarz About?
I maintain my own style and signature regardless of what type of genre is being explored within a production. I seek to add layers of orchestration that bring a dramatic quality to the production. I draw inspiration from the basslines of old-school jazz, hip-hop, dub and roots music, reinterpreting them within a modern production style. I take time with each track to preserve its beauty, and provide what best serves the music itself.

With the clients I have worked with, I seek to translate their lived experience and feelings into sound. This strengthens my collaborative approach while ensuring that each client's sonic vision is fulfilled.
Production Time
I genuinely love the process of producing, I enjoy creating beat patterns and exploring the fields of notation and harmony to compose sonics with a distinctive character.
What takes place during a production session?
This can vary depending on the structure of the production; however, for most sessions, I begin with the feeling being expressed and consider what musical movement emerges from that emotion. This helps me to generate the feel of the groove for the beat/drums to be composed, within the groove i would articulate the language of the bassline to atmospheric and environmental soundscapes. This is just one of my many methods to production, as this does not describe the engineering side of my work.
Authenticity
I am one who stands on the ground of authenticity, even in everyday life. My recognition of authentic values comes from my past experiences that has shaped my listening ear into a magnet for sonics of an otherworldly kind.

I create from a place shaped by a journey of considerable distance and experience. Through relection and an understanding of my past, I carry forward what has shaped my heart, and, in turn, shaped my sound.
